Vertical Secrecy

Germans elected Hitler, but still sang the old song about their thoughts being free: die gedanken sind frei. We live in a set of societies nearly all of which claim to be free: yet we all know that states keep secrets, so do individuals. This and that monotheism share belief that God knows everything, that things we don’t understand make sense in his view. We don’t have to understand how Jesus can be man and God at the same time: God understands.

God understands, we don’t have to understand.
Piers the ploughman doesn’t have to understand, so long as the archbishop does.
The state knows that this or that anarchist must be silenced, it doesn’t matter what the tax payer does or doesn’t understand.

I want to discuss these things in the context of two well-known entertainments: Mission Impossible and the movie Deep Cover. I thought I already had such discussions: at the censored Knatz.com of 2007, or at a blog: IonaArc say. But now I’m not finding them! So I start from scratch: and will merge-edit if and when I find them.

The MI TV series begins with a bit of boiler plate everyone can quote: “Good morning/afternoon/evening, Mr.Phelps. … Your mission Jim, should you decide to accept it … As always, should you or any of your I.M. Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions.”

In Deep Cover a cop, played by Laurence Fishburne, is instructed to pretend to be a drug dealer. He’s to work undercover, so far undercover that the cops won’t admit he’s one of them if he’s caught.

Deep Cover

Remind you of anybody famous? any famous God, for example?
Jesus in the stories was misperceived by both Jews and pagans. Angels in the Bible were routinely misperceived, the blindness of Sodom was common.

Think, in parallel, as I discuss this, about Japanese soldiers planted on Pacific islands. They were to sacrifice their lives, killing, or trying to kill, anyone not their direct military superior. Ten years later, these kamikazes were still ready to shoot on more islands than anyone could count.
(The one thing that kamikaze doesn’t expect is to be disavowed by the emperor!)

I believe that the earth is riddled with angels, and with fanatics, planted by God. They don’t deny who or what they are, they exercise all their talents to proclaim it. But the society is self-willed, self-deluded: blind and deaf kleptocrats: robot bureaucrats programmed to hear only what harmonizes with their institutional mythology: we’re the goodguys: we didn’t rape a continent; God gave it to us, so we could rape it: it would be unGodly not to rape it.

The liars don’t even pretend to lie plausibly: their lies are backed by guns, by jails, by compulsory state-managed schools, by (implicit) promise of shared loot.
Any American who doesn’t want to waste his unfair share of loot can stand aside (or get knocked down), there’s a long line for green cards.

I am such a one. I don’t disguise it, I’m not under cover, I’m covered over, by those who refuse to see: that is, everybody. This blog is one of my sounding boards. It tries to serve Christ, as did my founding FLEX, the world’s first offer to the public of a social-networking, data-posting internet. But everything I’ve done is (temporarily) defeated, smothered, by the Christ killers: camouflaged as Christian soldiers! state bureaucrats, cookie-cut citizens, disguised as freedom fighters.

2012 04 11 I got a few anchors in place yesterday, but today I see how I should rewrite top to bottom before interweaving. One or two core points have not yet been directly hinted at.

Institutions

About pk

Jesus symbolizes institutions' stagnancy of learning: the temple didn't get it, didn't want to get it. The whole society still doesn't.
