I transfer this comment from the pkTools blog, my initial attempt to save my Thinking Tools modules once all my domains had been censored, destroyed, me jailed:
No one of my Thinking Tools is more important than that on Information, or my special development of information: Macroinformation (my analysis and theory of complex information). Macroinformation materials I’m recreating at my blog of that name.
To talk sensibly about complex information I use Gregory Bateson’s two basic categories of existence, Pleroma (the physical universe) and Creatura (the universe of life).
I declare a subset for Bateson’s Creatura: Sentiens, the universe of self-awareness. See my Macroinformation blog. And be aware that I’m redeveloping the concept as I develop it, since I see ambiguity in Sentiens: between sanity and pathology, all having to do with semiotic sophistication (that I fear Homo sapiens is not adequately sentient to add accurately to its awareness.) (In other words, awareness is flawed: perhaps essentially and permanently.)
