HTML

Without code the browser doesn’t know how to display the data. HTML is a second layer of metadata: you center the text one way on the typewriter, another way in Word, and still other ways on line.
Knatz.com looked great, to my satisfaction, in 2006. Most of the links worked, lots of the spelling was checked, the prose written, and edited, and reedited.
Oct 2006 the fed arrested me. Feb 2007 the fed censored all my domains, destroyed my business, terrified my host into destroying all my files: several thousand text, a few thousand graphics.
Now here’s my plan:
I want to mount Knatz.com / Teaching / Society / folder by folder, add menu by menu – in my HTML of 2006: text first, graphics later: see whatever the hell wordpress makes of it. Then recode, post by post, then weave the pics back in, then recode the local links. (Meantime, at least you’ll see how many links there were: thousands! tens of thousands!)

Bear with the process. Help. Send money. Buy me a car, a secretary. Address: pk@Knatz.com.
2013 05 09 I’ve been doing that, but necessarily the way I said: restoring Teach / Tools, Teach / Soc, this and that subfolder, some Personal / And graphics, and links …

2014 08 13 I don’t own Knatz.com; my son does. He promised to give it to me, it was supposed to be a birthday present, back in the 1990s. He never actually did: and it’s a good thing: because he’s been paying the domain, rent: I would have defaulted, again and again.
Except sometimes he too forgets (I don’t think he’s ever as broke as I’ve routinely been been my teens.) Then the email gets screwed, temporarily: but there’s no telling what gets lost: permanently.

WordPress just changed its code: again. I write code where the media gets centered, I write a blurb, also centered; WP rewrites, now the style is arbitrary. I fix, I overwrite, they can change it, introduce errors: tomorrow, next year, next century …

About pk

Seems to me that some modicum of honesty is requisite to intelligence. If we look in the mirror and see not kleptocrats but Christians, we’re still in the same old trouble.
