Mistakes for Humanity

Crimes against humanity are committed by the modern kleptocracy that loses the war.
Once upon a time the warlord didn’t have to “prove” that bombing you, flaying you … torture, burning … was for your own good.
Jared Diamond charts kleptocracies as invariably justifying kleptocracy. We were right to take your land, to not pay you a royalty, to declare your ancient way of life criminal …

Christian missionaries are innocent of all crimes. If they commit genocide, it’s not a crime but a mistake. The US burned the village and everyone in it, men women and children, by mistake: give them a gold star for good intentions.
Unless the Christians were to lose the war: then the warlord could vilify the Christians; but no one not on the pyre would be a Christian.

The winners write the history, the winners don’t need falsification, the winners rewrite the dictionary: correct usage.

Seems to me that some modicum of honesty is requisite to intelligence. If we look in the mirror and see not kleptocrats but Christians, we’re still in the same old trouble.
