Willis and Kids

Is Bruce Willis a good actor? a good guy? He’s an icon, effective, looks good in more than one sense, that’s for sure. And he’s lasted more than a year or two: that’s amazing. If he’s not good then his team is good, somebody’s paying attention.

I watched him in another tough-guy-relates-to-weird-kid role last night and got pinned to it by more than one pin. I’m still sticking to bits of it, hence the post. The Sixth Sense is a classic role of his I’ve long honored; last night’s surprise was Mercury Rising (surprise for me, that is: it turns out the movie is even older than Sixth Sense: you can’t be me, sabotaged left and right, and be consistent in what you’re behind in.)

I’ll argue that Sixth Sense is a great movie; Rising is a Willis vehicle with more than two good features.

My dear late Catherine couldn’t stand him, accused him of thinking he was God’s gift to women. (Gee, that applies to me too, doesn’t it?) Seems to me that there must be more than a couple of women would actually think so, and some men too. But my darling Jan I don’t think can stand him either: I watched Rising while she’s away.
Me, last night I was staring at his neck, his jaw, all that male beef, and marveling that he’s looked prime for longer than prime.

that’s a start, but all for now.

About pk

Seems to me that some modicum of honesty is requisite to intelligence. If we look in the mirror and see not kleptocrats but Christians, we’re still in the same old trouble.
