Premature Commitment

State-controlled compulsory schooling is a nearly ideal mechanism for guiding the immature to commit their futures to last year’s values: last year’s, last century’s, last millennium’s.

First the kleptocracy herds us away from any possible independence by destroying “nature”: herd migration routes, hunting grounds … Territory becomes property: and the bulk of the young are born propertyless: dependent on the propertied.

Oh, but that’s OK, because the school will train us to get “jobs.”

Those who best go along with it are judged “intelligent,” given skills. Become a doctor, a lawyer … You’ll make out like a bandit.

The kid isn’t told until he’s already hocked the future, becoming an intern, a resident, that the ahem health industry kills more people than cancer.

Doesn’t anyone care if the future will despise their success? Hold them up to ridicule?

Or will we continue merely to worship power? Oh boy, those Romans! They may have killed Christ, but look at all the money they made! They were the ones pointing their thumbs down: while their slaves died.

Study the priesthood for six years, get a parish; then discover that you’re an atheist.

By the time you’re a lawyer, in hock to your eyeballs, you’ll believe that you have an inalienable right to get 40% of someone else’s compensation for their injury: except that you’ll only take injuries that can make you the big bucks. And that ain’t the Tutsi, or the Hutu.

School’s Purpose

About pk

Seems to me that some modicum of honesty is requisite to intelligence. If we look in the mirror and see not kleptocrats but Christians, we’re still in the same old trouble.
