- God said to Lucifer, “I’ve made that species fractionally predatory and fractionally social and fractionally sentient. You want to wager on how complicated the whole mess gets?”
Lucifer answered, “Don’t bother to tell me: I see how the fractional sentience is directly related to the predation and to the socialization. It will get plenty complicated. I’ll offer a slightly different wager: leave them alone for a few millennia: get a base reading on the complexities; then I wager that I can make it more complex.”
“Well, sure: and so can I,” God answered. “But tell me what you have in mind.”
“At some point, say after their system spins a few thousand cycles, let me goad the elders to coerce uniform training among the young. I bet I can increase their socialization by stunting their sentience right there.”
“I think I follow. That really is devilish. But spin it out. Show me what you see.”
“I think it would be much more fun to just wait and see.”
“Deal. Not that I doubt you, but just to manufacture some stakes, I bet you … uh … their souls.”
God chuckled to himself. Heh, heh. Presuming it works, their souls will be worthless: as of then.
- Lucifer had it easy: because the fractionally social, fractionally sentient fractional predators were already inventing magic. Oh, not real magic — none of them had that; fake magic, where the “magician” tricks the gulls, makes them see things that aren’t there.
Already their predations had turned onto themselves. Humans preyed on humans far more than they preyed on the fauna of the woods and fields (which all preyed on the flora). In nature the generations trade benefits across time, symbiotically: the way genders prey on each other in sex. This would be different: the old would prey on the young! asymmetrically.
- However easy Lucifer had it, however God was working Lucifer as his own misdirection dummy, man learned a little misdirection too: and turned the tables on the pair:
Poor Cameron Diaz sits on the bus, her right arm in a sling. Actually that’s a dummy arm in the sling: her real right hand is riffling the pockets of the gentleman seated next to her.
The Jews want the Canaanite’s land? Take it: tell them God gave it to you: the dummy arm; the real hand being the Jews themselves. Ditto “white” “Christians”: the New World? Surely God didn’t mean those awful locals to have it; no, no: it belongs rightfully to the Christians.
That translates as “I’m hanging you (imprisoning you, exploiting you …) for your own good.”
I don’t doubt that the kleptocracies stole the internet from Illich/pk for our own good. The kleptocracies took our decentralized, anti-kleptocratic ideas and palmed a hi-tech, largely centralized fake onto the world: one always getting “upgraded” till even the nerds can’t understand it (and only the most alpha kleptocrats can “afford” it!) note
Which one’s in this pic? I dunno.
The kleptocracies took our decentralized, anti-kleptocratic ideas
and palmed a hi-tech, largely-centralized fake onto the world.
OK, this needs a little more work. The next draft will be smoother.
But the (real) dummy kids sit where they’re told, hear much of what they’re told (whether they’re listening or not), and emerge speaking as well as hearing Orwellian New Speak: laws are written by men, justice is what you get from a bureaucrat, educated is what you dummies are.
And God loves us.
Don’t get me wrong: I’m a kleptocrat too. I too live on stolen land. I too live among lies and deceptions, myself also deceived. But I have no choice in the matter. It’s not voluntary. I’m careful not to cooperate. I live on the land but am careful not to own it. I am helplessly in the money/banking economy, but I participate the absolute minimum I can devise. The friction by which I wear the machine may be too little to notice, but it’s friction just the same: the best i can do.
|If one were to tell me that this was a bad government because it taxed certain foreign commodities brought to its ports, it is most probable that I should not make an ado about it, for I can do without them. All machines have their friction; and possibly this does enough good to counter-balance the evil. At any rate, it is a great evil to make a stir about it. But when the friction comes to have its machine, and oppression and robbery are organized, I say, let us not have such a machine any longer.
Henry David Thoreau
I too am an American. I too am white. I too am a Christian. At least I’m counted as such by the kleptocrats: helpless not to be so counted, the counters having no honesty.
