Regulating Information

2001 05 20 Schools are one of society’s many methods of regulating information and governing the development of intelligence. Understand that a regulator — like a carburetor which mixes fuel with air, a choke which alters the mixture, a governor installed with the accelerator — can either enhance or limit performance: or rather enhances one type of performance at the expense of another. A free marketplace must be unregulated: no gate keeper! A regulated marketplace must take responsibility for its regulations. (In truth, we are responsible whether we take responsibility or not: whether or not there’s a God judging us. The truth is the truth whatever the politics, whatever lies whatever hierarchy tells.)

Regulated systems can move the goods;
regulated systems can siderail other goods.
Regulated systems control who and what gets moved,
who and what gets siderailed.

If there ever were such a thing as a society that wanted intelligent members (just after hell freezes), it would deregulate everything:

No schools
people want to learn, get out of their way
help but don’t show them how

No church
let god(s) speak for themselves
just don’t interfere
like a school, a church is a governor: it limits exposure to and from divinity.
I can’t imagine any god approving any church: she can’t get a word in edgewise

No government
No laws
No tariffs
No taxes

Stand aside, watch: people will pay for what they want

(And if they don’t, fuck ’em.
what business is it of a kleptocracy?)

The way I offered FLEX / FIX, it had to emerge: from the population. It didn’t. So the population, over-regulated, failed its own best chance of survival, of growth. (Such a population shouldn’t survive. Why should I save you? against the best interests of the total ecology?: which is obviously not interfering in human suicide. (Notice: God isn’t either.)

When I founded FLEX I didn’t distinguish “government” from “state”; now I do. Government is legitimate; state is not. If people agree to form a post office, or trash removal, that’s fine. If people are tired of dying from cholera and pool pennies to hire an investigator, good for them. The FLEX I offered was that kind of government. No coercion was involved. States however, however they are founded, soon adopt coercion: and become satanic.

Seems to me that some modicum of honesty is requisite to intelligence. If we look in the mirror and see not kleptocrats but Christians, we’re still in the same old trouble.
