Cosmology: the collection of our speculations as to the nature of our universe.
Is it natural? magical? owned?
Who’s the landlord? do we really owe taxes on it?
Whatever we say, are we really competent to know it?
One way or another, this is a deeply misleading Universe.
2006 10 03 What could be more absurd that a sentience thinking it (or its species) could possibly verify its cosmology? I’ll tell you: the idea that God could possibly verify his cosmology.
Oh, we have to have one: sentience, god, species … We, humans for sure, have to have many more than one.
Note added the week before my arrest. Still needs clarification though.
2015 09 03 I’m paused in the middle of a DVC on supermassive black holes. The narrative defined “cosmology” as reasoning about the origins of the universe: galaxies, etc. That is not how I’ve used the terms all these decades. To me cosmology is thought about existence: nature, origins … Cosmology is thought about this universe and all universes. Thus the cosmos is vaster than the universe, the cosmos may contain many universes: and much else besides.
