god Stories

Recreating (and advancing) pk’s censored domains: Macroinformation.org & Knatz.com / Teaching / Society / Social Epistemology / gods /

This file will collect stories in which god is a theme. The first of them could have gone among my personal stories, but since god is over here in my Society section, I make room for it.
My god father, Duncan Gens (also spelled Jens, Jenz … in the family plot) was the Anglican bishop of Brooklyn. As narrated elsewhere, it was he who christened the infant pk. My mother told a story about Uncle Duncan which I recall occasionally: today with a new recognition:
Back when, some churchmen met in New York. Some issue was deadlocked between the conservatives and the liberals: Anglicans all. Some conservative rose and spoke. He told how the previous night, on his knees in prayer, God had come to him and told him: The conservative point must prevail.
Duncan, a liberal, got the floor, remaining seated. He said that just that morning, sitting in the crapper, taking a shit, God had come to him. Vote liberal!
So what’s the revelation? Good God! Could it be from Duncan Gens (among others of course) that pk gets his style! ?!?!? (Maybe my mother did too. Both my parents had some style of expression. Both could both inflate and deflate.

About pk

Seems to me that some modicum of honesty is requisite to intelligence. If we look in the mirror and see not kleptocrats but Christians, we’re still in the same old trouble.
