For the hero mortality is deciduous
and falls off at maturity.

Merry Christmas

That line, from a Byron paper I wrote for Leslie Marchand in 1963, NYU, came into my head and onto my tongue fishing with my son and grandson. First I said I wasn’t sure, that it was a paraphrase, then it fixed in my head, and I corrected it to a “quote”.

pk, Benjamin, Nathalie on Christmas Eve

By evening Brian was in the kayak with his phone to snap this pic: Nathalie, Benjamin, pk. Understand, Benjamin’s full name is Benjamin Tucker Marcus, after the great anarchist for Liberty.

Brian and I had just been discussing Schopenhaur, Wagner, Tristan … Christianity, Gnosticism …

Later last evening you should have heard Benjamin, now seven, narrate on the shenanigans of Mesopotamian, then Egyptian gods.

Marcus:
a surname invented from sources on both sides of bk’s marital family. John Marcus Fleming was bk’s maternal grandfather. Nathalie had an Uncle Marcel: same root: from Mars.

About pk
