We Go Along — Religulous

/ Favorites /

I rented a DVD of Religulous several years ago because I suspected it was high time I found out by direct experience (an image on a tube, eg) who this politically incorrect clown, Bill Maher, was (and because anything that sounds like it concerns religion will get at least 1/100th of a nod from me. Well, I very rapidly hated it (and hated him!): but I’ve very glad I saw at least ten minutes of it before bailing out. He said one thing that was right on the money: he said of Christians and their Christianity:

They make it up as they go along!

I see that as true of many a thing, including science! But in science it’s supposed to be true: theories get revised by subsequent thought, subsequent experience: it’s the only honest approach: humble. But it is not supposed to be true of revealed religions!

About pk

Seems to me that some modicum of honesty is requisite to intelligence. If we look in the mirror and see not kleptocrats but Christians, we’re still in the same old trouble.
