World Cup Budget

just a note, sore thumb, will develop:

Brazil spent god knows how much on its soccer stadium: lots of excitement, lots of media/web coverage, neat, how exciting.

But: I’m a disciple of Ivan Illich. Ivan Illich is the deschooler: no compulsory rituals! no compulsory attendance at rituals. Let people chose this church, that school, if they want to; but don’t shove them.

I’m the other deschooler: I’m the guy who offered to develop cybernetic data bases for the public: don’t pay taxes, give me the money: just a bit of the money: I’ll do more for less. Politically free, free from manipulated markets: an ideal, but also our practical best chance: Christian anarchism.

Before developing deschooling, illich preached developed nations leaving undeveloped nations alone to solve their own problems: the US will have problems enough with roads, trucks, 2-car families: there’s no need to foist our future problems onto South America’s present.

I heard complaints about the soccer stadium from those saying Brazil needed the money spent on roads, schools … No. Get rid of kleptocracy. Maybe get rid of money too: certainly get rid of tax money. If people truly had true representatives it might be different, but with GM and Dupont behind the thrones it’s all a giant step toward destruction.

Actually, I fear it’s been a bunch of giant steps beyond destruction for some time now. Dead men walking. Wealth won, same as Death. Freedom never had a chance.

About pk

Seems to me that some modicum of honesty is requisite to intelligence. If we look in the mirror and see not kleptocrats but Christians, we’re still in the same old trouble.
