For the technical side of things, the usual accounts have it right: Tim Berners-Lee, etc. 1988. World-Wide-Web. But any account that doesn’t emphasize Heinz Forester’s cybernetics, through the 1960s especially, Ivan illich’s Deschooling Society design of 1970, and Paul Knatz’s continuation and expansion of Ivan Illich’s design is either ignorant, dishonest, or both.
