Institutions’ Members

Institutions promise one thing but deliver something else.
Institutions taylor themselves to the suggestibility of the public: if the church says it’s in touch with God, why then it must be in touch with God, must it not? God must be real, the church must be real, and, most important, then its members must be real! Real, respectful, worshipful … also holy … saved!

Gee, we have a Justice department: we must be just!
We have laws: we must be lawful. Schools, we must honor intellect, knowledge …

Institutions are a free ticket from the truth. No honesty necessary, no intelligence. The modern tyranny will call itself a democracy, will say it’s tuned to the will of the people.
And there’s a key word: institutions are composed of people. The institution will be no more honest than its members.
My Schiz Center post provides a central metaphor for the whole section: our society, our culture, is divided within itself, contradictory … schiz.

2015 02 18 I’m shuffling, redistributing material, always tricky.

I get sabotaged by my society faster than I can tell about it. I no longer have the wherewithal to compose calm reports, reasoned responses. I have to blurt, ever more hysterical. Explanations are necessary (since I’m capable of them, fulfilling my inspired role), but apologies are inappropriate: the ruptured Jew shouldn’t beg the Nazi’s forgiveness as the Nazi kicks him in the balls — the Jew should just puke on the Nazi’s boot. Imitation of Jesus, Jesus in Jerusalem.

About pk

Seems to me that some modicum of honesty is requisite to intelligence. If we look in the mirror and see not kleptocrats but Christians, we’re still in the same old trouble.
