The Quiet American

/ Movies /

2015 09 06 I’ve long thought Graham Greene to be one of the great novelists, one of the truly great novelists: in line with Conrad. I just saw The Quiet American. I’m glad I saw it now, I’m ashamed I never saw it before; but how could I have? Christian, pacifist Paul?
Anyway, something occurs to me, I must discuss, under Social Order / Centralization; not Movies! First, in a simple word: war requires a dictator: democracy and war are incompatible.
If we’re at war, we should be at war. No discussion, no news, no public opinion; one’s conscience, one’s God, one’s Jesus must be silenced! Or, don’t have war.

Follow Genghis, don’t argue, don’t expect to understand. Understanding is irrelevant. But I ask regardless, what determines Genghis’ culture? tradition? insanity?

Actually, war should only be fought by robots, no humans allowed.

Sooner or later, Mr. Fowler, one has to take sides, if one is to remain human.

About pk

Seems to me that some modicum of honesty is requisite to intelligence. If we look in the mirror and see not kleptocrats but Christians, we’re still in the same old trouble.
